Shades

Posted by Prester John Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at 12:56 PM

Daylight licks her tears away
As stars laugh sweetly at her jokes
Clouds swirl and smile to her
And she splashes my days with
shades of white. of life.

Can painters or poets or beauty
Survive in the world of daggers?
Lurking, dismal, sword-toothed,
Shadows seek to paint with
shades of black. of death.

Wind slices my tears away
As gravestones weep at my dirge
Storm clouds march at my heed
And I swipe her sign with
shades of grey remembrance.
